Martone Celebrates #2 iTunes Chart Milestone

There are moments in life when you have to stop, take a breath, and acknowledge what has happened — even if you’re someone who is used to simply moving forward to the next goal. Recently, I had one of those moments.

Not just because of the chart position itself, but because of what it represents after years of work, growth, and persistence.

The song blends Afrohouse rhythms with R&B influences, creating a record that lives somewhere between the dance floor and a place of reflection. From the beginning, “We Loved Each Other Through It” was meant to carry a deeper message about endurance, connection, and generational love.

When I wrote the song, I was thinking about something larger than my own life. I was thinking about my ancestors — those who came before me and those who will come after. History has shown us again and again that people have survived unimaginable circumstances. Through it all, love was often the thing that allowed them to endure.

That idea sits at the heart of the record.

Seeing the song resonate with listeners internationally has been powerful. But beyond the chart placement itself, the moment reminded me of something that took a long time for me to learn: it’s important to celebrate your wins.

Growing up, recognition was not always part of my life. In fact, I did not experience a birthday celebration that truly honored me until I was well into adulthood. That experience shapes how I look at milestones today. I understand what it feels like to move through life without those moments of acknowledgment, and because of that, I’ve learned that sometimes you have to give yourself permission to recognize what you’ve accomplished.

That doesn’t mean becoming arrogant or losing perspective. It simply means allowing yourself to see the progress you’ve made.

Reaching #2 on the iTunes chart with this record is one of those moments for me.

The single is also an early glimpse into my upcoming album “Phoenix Rising: The Emperor’s Ascension,” which is scheduled for release on June 23, 2026. The album represents what I often describe as the emotional arc of my life. The songs move through different experiences — love, reflection, sensuality, resilience, and growth — all expressed through rhythm and dance music.

The writing for the album is already complete, but I’ll be returning to the studio soon to continue shaping the production and final sound. My cousin Michael E. Williams II of Platinum Keyz produced the album, and working with him has allowed the music to take on a depth and emotional texture that I’m very proud of.

At its core, Phoenix Rising is about transformation.

Life has a way of testing people in ways they never expected. Sometimes the only option is to rise again with a deeper understanding of who you are and what your purpose is. That idea has guided much of the creative process behind this project.

The timing of the song’s success also arrives during a moment when the world itself is facing many challenges. Across the globe, people are navigating uncertainty, conflict, and change. In moments like that, I believe music still has an important role to play.

Music has always been one of the ways people reconnect with one another. It allows us to feel something together — even when everything around us feels divided.

If “We Loved Each Other Through It” reminds people of that connection, then the song has already done something meaningful.

There’s another layer to this moment as well. In the near future, I’ll be sharing more of my personal story in an upcoming memoir. The book will explore many of the experiences that shaped both my life and my music — including some of the moments that taught me the importance of resilience and self-recognition.

For me, reaching #2 on the UK iTunes Africa Songs Chart with “We Loved Each Other Through It” is one of those moments.

The song itself is about endurance — about the quiet truth that love has often been the force that carried people through the hardest chapters of history. When I wrote it, I was thinking about my ancestors and the generations who survived circumstances far greater than themselves.

Seeing the record resonate internationally reminds me that music still has the power to connect people across cultures, across continents, and across time.

I also understand something now that I didn’t always know growing up.

There were many moments in my early life that passed without celebration or recognition. For a long time, milestones simply moved by quietly.

Because of that, I’ve learned something important.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge your own progress. Not from ego, but from gratitude. Not to prove something to the world, but to recognize the work, the growth, and the resilience that brought you to that moment.

This chart milestone is one of those moments for me.

As I continue preparing the upcoming album Phoenix Rising: The Emperor’s Ascension, my focus remains on the music and the journey ahead. The songs are already written, and I’ll be returning to the studio soon to continue shaping the sound of the project before its release on June 23, 2026.

But today, I’m allowing myself to recognize this step along the way.

In a world that often moves quickly past accomplishments, there is value in pausing long enough to acknowledge them.

Not because the story is finished.

But because the journey continues.

“We Loved Each Other Through It” is available now on Apple Music and iTunes, with worldwide availability across streaming platforms beginning March 13, 2026.
