I am so excited to be able to share this project with you, it has been two years in the making. This project is an example of my perseverance. Over the past couple of years, I had gone through some life-changing events that lead me to prioritize some things. First, my health is most important. During the recording of Fever, I came down with severe sinus congestion which had lead to the loss of hearing in my right ear. It was six months before I could hear anything out of my right ear. I will tell you that with the help of Eustachi things started to get better for me.
During recovery from the sinus congestion, I had got with a vocal coach and choreographer to begin putting together some shows prior to the release of Erogenous Zone that was scheduled for September of the last year. Again, I came down with a severe sinus infection and then I was involved in an auto accident which set me back for a while. So, this year, after having sinus surgery, and physical therapy, I started feeling well enough to record, and my brand-new album Erogenous Zone is complete. The release is scheduled for July 26, 2019, worldwide.
All of these songs were recorded between January 25, 2019, and March 8, 2019, with the exception of one. I can definitely hear the growth, both musically and lyrically. I am too excited about the first single release which is titled Love Out Loud, that is scheduled for release on May 31, 2019! I must say, that I am getting early awesome reviews from industry insiders.
The one thing, I can tell you about my life experiences is that it has taught me more patience, with myself and with others. One other thing was learning to love me just a little bit more. With that, self-love allowed me to be a little kinder and gentler to those that are in my life, and people that I have interactions with.
With learning to love myself more, it opened up doors that had been closed and allowed more positive things to happen in my life. I now know how to protect my peace, to say what I mean and mean what I say, which eventually lead to collaborations with others.
I guess things truly do happen for a reason, I was able to collaborate a very talented people such as Clayton Morgan, Ms. Shelly, on Splendid Thing and a rapper by the name of Khristophe out of Dallas for my club single called Werk.
Over the next couple of months, I will start dropping snippets here and there, so that you can get a feel of what the album is about. Stay tuned on my social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Be sure to sign up for event and opportunities notifications for free stuff from me on this website.
I want you to know that this album is very personal. I am so open about my life, about my struggles with love, relationships and about coming to terms with who I am, which is a very proud and out, African American gay man. I am not too certain that I could have written or recorded some of the songs that I have two years ago. I thank the Creator for growth.
I thank you for reading my ramblings 🙂 I will leave you with these lyrics from Love Out Loud. “Enjoy your life like never before, it will open of the doors for you to explore. You are free to be, who you are. So let your guard down.”
